Retainers in Huntington Beach
Protect Your Results
Keeping Your Smile Where It Belongs
Finishing orthodontic treatment is a milestone, but it is not quite the finish line. Teeth have a tendency to shift back toward their original positions, especially in the months right after treatment. A retainer holds everything in place and protects the result you worked for. At SeaGate Family Dental in Huntington Beach, we fit custom retainers for patients who have completed orthodontic treatment and for those who need a replacement.

Why It Matters
Why Retainers Matter
Once your braces come off or your Invisalign treatment ends, the bone and tissue around your teeth are still settling. Without a retainer, it is common for teeth to drift, sometimes noticeably, sometimes subtly over time. A retainer prevents that movement while the structures around your teeth stabilize.
Your Options
Types of Retainers
Removable Retainers
Taken out for eating and cleaning. They come in two main styles: a clear plastic tray similar in appearance to an Invisalign aligner, or a wire retainer with an acrylic base. Your provider will recommend which works best for your situation.
Fixed Retainers
Thin wires bonded to the back of the teeth, usually the lower front teeth. They stay in place permanently and do not require any action on your part, but they do require a bit more care when flossing.
Lost or Damaged?
Getting a Replacement Retainer
Retainers get lost, worn down, or warped over time. If yours is damaged or no longer fitting correctly, it is important to replace it promptly to keep your teeth from shifting. We can take new impressions and have a replacement made for you.
